Santa Barbara Doctor Since 2002
Dr. Brewer grew up in Santa Barbara and attended Cate School in Carpinteria for high school. He attended UCLA for his undergraduate education. In 1996, he graduated with his M.D. from Hahnemann Medical University (now Drexel University Medical College) in Philadelphia, PA.
He returned to California for a dual Pediatrics and Internal Medicine residency at the University of Southern California LAC+USC Medical Center in Los Angeles. Upon completion of the program, he became double board-certified in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine. He has been in private practice since 2002.
Dr. Brewer and his wife have three young adult daughters. In his free time, Dr. Brewer enjoys playing tennis, surfing, reading, and spending time with his family, as well as volunteering in the Santa Barbara community. He is an active member of the broader Santa Barbara medical community as well, serving in various roles at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital over the years.
Dedicated to Primary Care for Families
Primary care has been Dr. Brewer’s lifelong purpose and mission. This has been the case ever since he was a young boy, watching his father (also a physician – for 37 years!) do his job. He considers it both a privilege and joy to be able to practice medicine and help keep individuals and families thriving every day. In his role as physician and as part of the medical community, Dr. Brewer is an advocate for both patient and physician wellness.
Dr. Brewer is licensed by the California Medical Board and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). He is also a member of the American College of Physicians (ACP), California Medical Association (CMA), American Medical Association (AMA), and Santa Barbara County Medical Society. He has admitting privileges at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and Goleta Valley Hospital. Dr. Brewer served as the Chair of Pediatrics for Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in 2023-2025. He is the recipient of a Distinguished Service Award from Cencal Health.
